BIO

I was born in Genoa , Italy, in 1973. I have always had a passion for drawing and art. As a teenager I attended the atelier of a local  painter  from whom I learned the technique of charcoal drawing. In 1999 I finished my scientific studies, obtaining a degree in Electronic Engineering but I have never stopped cultivating my passion for art.

I picked up the brushes again around 2010. The works dating back to those years have a figurative style. Over the years I have approached the abstract as evidenced by my latest works from 2022-2023.

My artistic production is divided into two categories: works of naturalistic inspiration and works that have the city and urban life as their subject.

I use various techniques from oil to acrylic to which I combine media such as plaster to obtain a material effect.

In 2015 I participated in an exhibition curated by Prof. Giorgio Grasso at the Trezzo Power Plant. This was followed
many other exhibitions in Italy, including the exhibitions curated by Loredana Trestin at Palazzo Ducale in Genoa, in Florence at the prestigious Bellini Museum and Imperia at the Naval Museum; participation in ArteGenova; exhibitions at the MAEC and at the Arcadia Gallery in Milan.

About my art

The color on Valeria Morasso's canvases follows the rules of emotion, not logic. Chromatic and material oases interrupt the flat calm of the support, at times homogeneous, at times lumpy, a clear indication of how the artist takes inspiration from life itself, with its smells and tactile elements. The seduction in this case is for the eye, which is satisfied by the skilful use of color and its arrangement, which may seem casual at first glance, but embodies the soul of Morasso in all its parts. The creative wave arises in her spontaneously, a primordial need to express through spatulas and brush all the creative force that breaks out intimately, a message full of energy. Although there are spaces between different techniques and styles, it is in the abstract that she finds complete realization, giving her the possibility of reproducing the explosion of forms in a free manner.
